A not-for-profit organization started the first Day of Silence (Dag van de Stilte) in 2011 in The Netherlands (Europe). The organizers take advantage of the change from summer time to winter time. This is always somewhere at the end of the month of October, and gives us one extra hour “for free”. They stimulate people to take silence initiatives that last one hour on that day. This year ‘winter is coming’ as from October 28.
